Valiant
A Prestigious Residential Property
Scope: Bespoke hand-crafted carpet for master bedroom and dressing area
Location: Kent
Timeline: 4 days on site (hand finishing and installation)
The designer asked for a carpet that carried a touch of character — something distinctive yet refined to suit a high-end master suite. After reviewing several colourways, we selected tones that allowed us to create a subtle body-and-border scheme: the central field provides a calm, grounded surface while the border gives definition and presence at the room’s perimeter.
All work was executed on site and hand finished over a four-day period. The installation presented a couple of technical challenges: there were curved transitions to manage and the carpet needed to run directly into the adjoining dressing area without visible joins or loss of pattern alignment. Our team used precision templating and careful hand-seaming to negotiate the curves and maintain the intended visual flow.
The result is a carpet that reads elegant and restrained from a distance, but reveals thoughtful detail on closer inspection — exactly the measured character the designer requested. The client’s response on completion was very positive: the bespoke solution met the design brief and enhanced the room’s overall sense of luxury and cohesion.
La Clérc Briant – A Bespoke Installation in Épernay
We were approached by the designer leading a prestigious project in the Épernay region of France, home to the iconic champagne house, La Clérc Briant. The brief: to design, craft, and install a set of bespoke stair runners that would seamlessly integrate with the elegance and architectural heritage of the property. However, the project posed a unique logistical challenge—some of the staircases featured winders, requiring precise templating for a perfect fit. This would normally involve two separate site visits: one for measuring and one for installation—an approach that was neither efficient nor economical.
After close collaboration with the designer, we proposed a more innovative solution: to bring our workshop directly to the site and produce the stair runners on location. This would allow us to template, fabricate, and install in a single visit—ensuring precision and adaptability while saving time and cost.
On a French Bank Holiday, our lead craftsman Steve, along with two experienced installers, travelled to Épernay. They set up a fully equipped temporary workshop in the property’s reception area, transforming the space into a creative hub for the duration of the project. Working on-site allowed the team to tailor each runner in real time, ensuring a flawless fit and finish, especially on the complex winding sections.
The result was a beautifully executed installation that was not only functionally sound but also visually in harmony with the interior design. The client and design team were thrilled with the outcome.
This project stands as a great example of how creative thinking and flexible execution can elevate design delivery. By adapting our process and working collaboratively on-site, we were able to meet the vision of the designer while solving a complex problem with elegance and efficiency.
