The Warp & Weft Story
Warp & Weft was established in 2004 to meet the specific needs of interior designers—delivering a consultancy-led approach to carpet supply that is efficient, dependable, and of the highest quality. The business was born from a genuine passion for flooring, first discovered by founder Matthew during university holidays while working in his uncle’s carpet shop. Inspired by the creativity, craftsmanship, tactile appeal, and quality of textile floor coverings, he launched Warp & Weft to serve the interior design community with both enthusiasm and technical know-how.
Over the past 20+ years, we have steadily expanded—growing our team, broadening our product range, and developing our expertise to also support architects and contractors. From stocked carpets to fully bespoke, handcrafted rugs and runners, our portfolio reflects our commitment to quality, luxury, and design excellence.
Our headquarters now houses a dedicated design consultancy, warehousing, and a specialist workshop for crafting custom bordered rugs and runners, which reflects our belief that flooring should embody both function and refined craftsmanship, contributing to the overall aesthetic, tactile richness, and enduring quality of a space. For clients seeking end-to-end support, our in-house installation service—overseen by our Senior Project Manager Steve Gibbons—ensures a smooth, consistent, and high-quality experience from specification to completion.
Interior designers value our responsiveness, attention to detail, and ability to solve complex flooring challenges under pressure—freeing them to focus on what they do best: designing exceptional spaces. Whether the brief calls for understated elegance or a statement piece, our solutions are always tailored, technically informed, of the highest quality, and rooted in a deep understanding of luxury materials.
In January 2024, Warp & Weft began an exciting new chapter under the ownership of Peter and Alina Robinson, who bring decades of flooring industry experience to the business. With specialist expertise in vinyl, LVT, and other hard flooring, our expanded capabilities now allow us to support every aspect of a flooring scheme—making us a true full-service flooring partner committed to quality at every stage.
At Warp & Weft, we remain as passionate today as we were at the beginning—dedicated to helping design professionals realise their vision through flooring that blends luxury, quality craftsmanship, and technical excellence.

The Team
Peter Robinson
Managing Director
With a deeply rooted background in the flooring industry, Peter specialises in subfloor preparation, surveying, and the installation of carpets and luxury vinyl tiles. His hands-on experience and practical training allow him to approach every project with precision, efficiency, and a solid commitment to getting the details right.
Outside of work, Peter is a lifelong sports lover and a devoted Liverpool fan. His passion for speed and competition shows up off the pitch too—he once worked as a go-kart marshal and still enjoys getting behind the wheel whenever he can.
Family is at the heart of everything Peter does. His wife, Alina, is an integral part of the team and brings creative flair to the business. He’s a proud father of three sons and a grandfather to six wonderful grandchildren. Peter is also committed to giving back, actively supporting children’s and animal charities. One of his proudest achievements was taking part in a charity abseil to raise funds for causes close to his heart.
Whether he’s delivering high-quality flooring solutions, cheering from the stands at Anfield, or supporting those in need, Peter brings energy, dedication, and heart to everything he does.
Steve Gibbons
Senior Project Manager
Steve Gibbons brings over five decades of hands-on experience to Warp & Weft, having entered the flooring trade in 1973. Following in the footsteps of his parents—his father a skilled installer and his mother a talented carpet sewer—Steve learned both the traditional methods of carpet planning and the delicate craft of hand-sewing. These foundational skills continue to shape his meticulous approach today.
Throughout his career, Steve has worked on a wide range of prestigious projects, including installations at Windsor Castle and numerous other heritage properties. He has also provided flooring solutions for several high-profile clients and celebrities, where discretion, craftsmanship, and attention to detail were paramount.
Before joining Warp & Weft, Steve ran a successful installation business with his wife, Sharon. In 2009, he became a key member of the Warp & Weft team, initially as Contracts Manager and now as Senior Project Manager. His deep technical knowledge and ability to solve complex challenges make him an invaluable resource on projects of all scales and styles.
Now working closely with Peter and Alina Robinson, Steve continues to lead with a commitment to quality and innovation. He is especially drawn to projects that are outside the norm—those that require creative thinking and bespoke solutions.
A devoted family man, Steve has six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Married since 1977, he enjoys travelling with his wife and is a lifelong Arsenal supporter. Flooring is more than just a profession for Steve—it’s a passion, and one he still enjoys every day.
Alina Robinson
Creative & Procurement Director
Alina is an integral part in our family-run bespoke flooring company, bringing 15 years of experience, with interior design background, and a natural eye for colour, texture, and detail. She supports the team across estimating, design guidance, procurement, and operations, carrying a blend of precision, practicality, and straight-up communication.
At the core of her work is a down-to-earth belief: people matter—and so do the spaces they live in. Clients know they can count on her to listen, carefully consider, and make the process feel smooth, supportive, and personal.
At the heart of this family business, which Alina runs alongside her supportive and committed husband Peter, lies their values of trust, quality, and real connection—and she brings that grounded, human touch to every project from start to finish.
Outside of work, Alina is a dedicated wife, mother, and nana—someone who follows her heart, even when it’s not easy, and remains committed to creating a meaningful, fulfilling life with the people she loves and adores.
